There was a local bar where I grew up where at midnight the regulars would stand and sing, "New York, New York". It was a lot of fun, I saw it about three times and thought it was a cool tribute to Frank!

The MAN & his MUSIC

You can't touch Sinatra's concept albums :eusa_clap . It was his increased use of gasoline (booze) & cigarettes that changed his voice during his classic period. These two things plus advancing age, began its deflation after 1969.

Solid Citizen ;)

Thanks for the mag link!

Thanks for posting that great article dhermann1.

Now I can't wait to check out Sammy Davis' photo to see more of those 'behind the scenes' views.

I've got a few of Frank's 78rpm records and some great 33s. That article you posted touches a lot on his bitterness towards the end of the 50s and you really can hear it in those songs.

For some reason this article made my mind replay the song "It's a Lonesome Old Town" on the album "Frank Sinatra sings for only the lonely".
Frank gettin' depressed about life.

Turmoil that he went through (both personal, and professional) in the early 50's (and various other parts of his life) I believe his Capitol/Reprise stuff is tops.

Nelson Riddle was a godsend.

As was Ava, as I believe that whatever he went through with her, helped to change him in a way that the "Staring-Down-The-Sauce-At-Last-Call" Songs came easier to him, and resounded with a poignancy (sp?) never before open to him.

But then again, I'm only 17, what do I know of Frank?
