Snagged this yesterday; James Dean Stetson

... no not his Stetson, but a "commemorative" (morbid, eh?) issued on the occasion of the 30th anniversary (1985) of his driving that Spyder into forever...

As you can see the seller had it mislisted in men's outerwear for some reason, you can also see that I asked for a measure of the brim width & he answered me that the brim was 4 inches. Well, I just wanted some other eyes to take a gander at these photos & confirm for me that there is NO WAY that this is 4 inches... right? To my eye it is 3" at the most, more like 2 3/4"... but I've been wrong before.

Even so, for $25 I thought that I couldn't go to far wrong in a 21 yr. old 4x, even though he is raking me over the coals w/:mad: $20 for shipping:rage: (watta crock!).
It looks somewhat Open Road-esque, I am not wild about the leather band, may look to replace it w/ a 1.5" grosgrain in a light gray.(any suggestions?) But all in all not a bad score, I look fwd. to seeing the quality of the felt, it looks less cowboy & more sportsman's fedora, maybe more Akubra-like. I could live with that.:)

There is no way that brim could be 4". I think the seller was guesstimating because he didn't have a measuring device. I saw that hat and the color is a good usable shade. For the price you did fine. God only know how many hat I buy that turn out to be less than my expectation but this one seems that it could turn in to a decent wearable hat. The shipping cost seems a bit high. I have had hats from Europe shipped for less.

Thank you, brother...

... thank you. I was almost positive that 4" was right off. But I needed independent validation. In retrospect he had two other cowboy hats up on the block at the same time, likely he measured the wrong brim... hope I get the right hat!

Yeah, me too. I got an OR shipped from Scotland for $25 USD... oh well, a bit of a surcharge or VAT... look on the sunny side.:) Thanks again, Doug.
