Latest purchase, as above Weintraub Blue 'Vintage' MA1 in XL, heavy weight which suggests a wool based interlining & moth nips (thankfully few...) wool knits. Made in USA this has Scovill zippers too. Saving this one for the Fall..will need a little darning on those nips but nothing serious :)

Thanks for posting the pics - what a great looking jacket, looks like good proportions too. Looks like you scored well on this one. Patriot's website says "wool pile insulation," so it's probably something along those lines. Another brand to keep an eye out for!

In that light blue it looks a lot like the NASA version. One in a nice, early green colour with green lining would be cool.

Looks brighter than the issue jackets on my monitor...? Nice, though.
I think bn1966's jacket is dark blue, but he can confirm. Showing proper colours of nylon jackets is difficult because most modern auto cameras use a flash to get proper colours, but flashes make nylon jackets look like shiny mylar and when you turn the flash off to show the proper muted finish of nylon you get weird colours.

That's certainly true. Is the one in your first posting the same jacket as the one in the second? (weirdly, I only saw the second one before, but now my reply appears between them???). The first one looks pretty good to my eye.

The jacket that bn1966 posted in posts #1 and #3 is the same jacket as I posted in post #5. bn1966's photos were taken by him, whereas mine are from the original e-Bay listing. According to Patriot's website these Weintraub "vintage MA-1" jackets were available in the following two colours:

The blue on the Weintraub MA1 is darker than the photos suggests but very close to the Alpha 'Vintage' series blue. I would be keen get track down one of their L2Bs.

I just got a Weintraub MA-1 in green, or rather light green. Well made, but really lightweight, so the insulation in this must be poly. The jacket is short and wide in the classic proportions, but to be honest it has no advantages over an older USA made Alpha. Condition is an issue. I picked it up from Vintage Trends and their definition of "good" is different than mine and they failed to mention a wide variety of condition issues. I didn't pay much so it's not worth a return, esp internationally, but I won't trust them again - I reckon one would have better luck rolling the dice on e-Bay. I will sell this on onwards.

Bad luck Doc, looks great in the pictures....shame they weren't more detailed in their description. Hopefully you'll make your money back on the Bay. Long live the Alpha Replica Series.

Ah, that sort of middly-blue? I have the L2A in the Alpha Vintage series. Not a perfect repro but nice nonetheless. Surprisingly warm!

Aye, if only! Very glad I got my B15C when I did; wish they'd redo their L2As. The L2 series is such a simple jacket they could do a great one without skimping...

Sorry to hear you lucked out Doc. Better luck with the next one.

Talking Weintraub, I scored another deadstock B-15C and will be putting my first one up in the classifieds in the next couple of days if any of the nylon fans are interested.

For the 50's / 60s Replicas in 'Vintage' Series Alpha are quite OK..mind you I'm not sure about that 'Blue' color. Thankfully there was also a Replica series MA1, B-15D & N2B. 'Vintage' series in some models must have been a large production run, I am still seeing NOS coming up on the Bay from time to time. In fact there was a B-15 in sage on UK E-bay earlier in the week.
