Lookin' super stylish, Red! What a great birthday hat! I like it better than the pics of Gov Olcott. One of these days, we need to meet at Mike's and then go get some lunch or something.

I've been wanting to do that for a long time. We need to plan it. Send the wives shopping and sit and have some fine coffee and canoli down at the Palace Bakery a couple of doors down from Mike!

The Olcott modified homburg made took it's maiden voyage today. My birthday hat was a big hit with the family. I actually put it on at 12:03 am (in my PJs) just for a moment, my wife saw the look of joy/sneakyness on my face and fell off the couch laughing!

This thread need a bump. I just received these pics of my latest. I forgot to tell Mike I wanted the hat open crown so I'll start with these creases and work a nice diamond into it. Should arrive next week.

Mike's attention to finish and detail is astounding. I love the bow detail and the colors. You will love it.

What amazes me about Mike's hatmaking is that my custom from him fit right out of the box, even before I creased it, no need for padding. And he worked just from my head measurement, no conformateur unit or anything. He did ask if a size 7 was tight or loose on me. I wasn't much help, saying that some size 7 hats are tight on me, some are loose, and that I can wear the occasional large 6 7/8 or small 7 1/8.

Come to think of it now, that answer probably did help to narrow down the dimensions needed.

The "pecan pie" hat looks sharp, Roger!
