My father's gotten his electric shaver fixed, or a new battery or something, at a shop on Montgomery in Fort Worth by Will Rogers. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place, but I honestly don't recall if they also had what you're looking for. Sorry, that's not much help!

Crabtree & Evelyn carry men's shaving products (shaving soap & balm & such). There's not a store listed in Dallas, but they have some retailers listed. Nordstrom and I believe Neiman-Marcus carry a couple different lines.

Art of Shaving's way over-priced and frankly, their knowledge is pretty limited. They're happy to sell you an over-priced brush or razor, but if you ask if they sharpen or hone or know anyone who does, they've got no clue.

There are plenty of online sources and some great forums like Straight Razor Place, Classic Shaving, http://badgerandblade.com/ and various others.

Thanks for the review. I just saw the shop and it looked interesting. Good to know :)

There is a Crabtree and Evelyn at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, suburb of Dallas. Actually a really nice mall.

Yep, Art of Shaving is a great shop with a lot of nifty things, but very pricey. Most of the razors I've seen there can easily be found on the net for substantially less. Same thing with the shaving brushes. Their chrome Gillette Fusion razors are nice to look at...but when you can get the regular ones at any market or drugstore for about $10, is getting it in chrome worth the additional $140?

I was asking what I considered pretty easy questions about straight razors and was surprised they were answering "I don't know" and so forth. I asked did they need to be sharpened before use, where could I get them sharpened in the future when they went a little dull, and similar questions. So I came home and hit the Internet and educated myself.

Mr. Savile Ebay is the best place to get classic Gillette safety razors which are still the best. Google Lee's Safety Razors...they have some good stuff too.
