No lining?

What's your opinion on semi-lined and unlined jackets?

I'm in the habit of wearing a suit in summer, and of course, I do feel a certain difference in temperature. So I consider taking out the linings, and in case I order a suit, ordering it unlined. I know this is quite common in Italy, but I'm not sure if a suit falls differently. (I'm talking about average wool fabrics, not linen, cotton or the like.)

Would it make a difference in look, apart from the lining itself?

Would I have to leave the inner and outer pockets empty?

Would semi-lined jackets make any sense? After all, the upper half is where it's getting warmest, isn't it?

Quarter lined is the term for an unlined jacket. Unlined is really a misnomer since there has to be lining in the sleeves (difficult to put on a jacket with unlined sleeves) and shoulder area(to hang properly).

Quarter lined jackets are more expensive to make because the interior of the jacket will be seen(no lining to hide sloppy workmanship) so it must be properly"finished". Removing lining will require costly clean up. Less lining doesn't affect the drape or fit of the jacket but does make for a lighter and cooler jacket.

Here's a pic of a quarter lined jacket.

Thank you very much for this information. It's all the more valuable for my idea of removing the lining myself.
