"The Godfather, The Game" is supposed to ship March 21, 2006 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC, I am really looking forward to it. I'll be grabbing the PC version :)
My favorite game to date was "Mafia" for the PC. I have high hopes for this one!

So, does anyone know what brand and type hat the REAL mafia would be wearing in the 30's, 40's, 50's?

There are reports here they are not up to par anymore (from a lot of the loungers). But, I am not the best at judging hats so ask one of the bartenders or Art or search the forms.

Unfortunately with this death in 1999, Mario Puzo's estate/publish/whoever has his license probably sold it to the game manufacturer without his consent.

That being said, I look forward to the release of the game. Nothing sucks you in to a story more than actually playing through it as a character. I really enjoyed the book and movie and the game looks fun.

My only worry is that it is being done by Electronic Arts (EA). They're most noted for their sports games, which are very good, but I have not seen or played a lot from any of the other genres they have worked on.

Agree with Siirous. Come on EA! Don't let us down :)

My hope is that it is as good as, or better than, "Mafia" which came out in 2002. http://www.mafia-game.com

While the game mechanics of "Mafia" would be considered a bit stiff compared to todays games, the art, sound, story and style were so compelling I felt as if I had stepped back in time.

Heck, I may just dust off the box and re-install that one till Godfather comes out!

This is the business we've chosen!

One of my favorite quotes comes from the Godfather Part II as written by Francis Ford Coppola & Mario Puzo

Hyman Roth: My sixth sense tells me your brother, Fredo, brought a bag full of money. Where is it? (Michael doesn't answer) You're pulling out?
Michael: Just want to -- just want to wait. How do you feel?
Roth: Terrible. I'd give four million just to be able to take a piss without it hurting.
Michael: Who had Frank Pentangeli killed?
Roth: The Rosato Brothers.
Michael: I know. But who gave the go-ahead? I know I didn't.
(Here it is.)
Roth: There was a kid I grew up with, he was younger than me. Sort of hooked up with me, you know. We did our first work together, worked our way out of the street. Things were good, we made the most of it. During Prohibition we ran molasses into Canada, made a fortune, your father too. As much as anyone I loved him and trusted him. Later on he had an idea to build a city out of a desert stopover for GIs on thier way to the West Coast. That kid's name was Moe Green. And the city he invented was Las Vegas. This was a great man -- a man of vision and guts. And there isn't even a PLAQUE, or a SIGNPOST, or a STATUE of him in that town. Someone put a bullet through his eye. No one knows who gave the order. When I heard it, I wasn't angry. I knew Moe; I knew he was headstrong -- talking loud, saying stupid things. So when he turned up dead -- I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen! I didn't ask who gave the order, BECAUSE IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSINESS!!

(spent, Roth coughs, pauses) That two million in the bag in your room...I'm going in, take a nap. When I wake, if the money's on the table, I'll know I have a partner. If it isn't, I know I don't.

Simply marvelous speaking.

I also think that 'Mafia' is my favourite game! The story is as good as or even better as a many stories of gangster-movies which take place in the 1930s.

And about 'The Godfather'... hmmm... we will see! I read it will a bit like the GTA-games, you can move around the city and 'run' into the next mission!

Yes Henry, the ability to just take a drive through the city, stop at a little out of the way nightclub, listen to some jazz and have a new mission present itself is just what I am hoping for! :cheers1:
