I love journalism culture--especially during the prime of the 40's newsroom. Can anyone recommend some great journalist themed movies--preferably golden age, but modern would be fine. I know All the President's Men, His Girl Friday, Gentleman's Agreement, and Citizen Kane, but little else. What others do you love?

Five Star Final, with Edward G. Robinson. A really searing pre-code look at sleazy tabloid journalism, specifically parodying the New York Evening Graphic, probably the sleaziest newspaper that ever existed.

I'm fond if this sub-genre myself, and Five Star Final is in my top 3. I remember being fairly shocked when I saw the ending of this one - in a good way! I also remember thinking how modern it seemed.

Can I add The Front Page to the list? Mile a minute dialogue. Wonderful.

Great thread! Clark Gable always played cool journalists. Occasionally, TCM plays "After Office Hours" with Gable and Constance Bennett from 1935. A very wild newspaper film.

Also, William Powell, Jean Harlow, Myrna Loy and Spencer Tracy in "Libeled Lady." A total classic.

I just saw Libeled Lady for the first time the other night. Great flick!

Nothing Sacred is great too. Carole Lombard is terrific in it. I have that one on VHS ;)
