Seems par the course, in fact. Most major imperial adventures in the Unites States (at least in the 20th C) were preceded by a causus beli of sorts, whether it be the Maine (see W.R. Hearst), Pearl Harbor, Tonkin etc. or something more subtle, like the “incubator babies” hoax that floated around before Gulf War I. Indeed, Operation Northwoods, now a declassified document, laid out in considerable detail a virtual template for The US Government to lie to & murder its own citizens. Signed by every single member of the Joint Chiefs but rejected by McNamara, Northwoods alone proves that such an idea is far from “utterly insane”, at least to the insane people at the Pentagon.

But the good news is ...

With all the schemes and misinformation that goes on in a free democratic society with checks and balances in government, and with a free press, what do you think goes on in countries under autocratic rule.

With all its faults, our system of government and a free press is a good one. The ability to openly discuss issues like this and to question the motives of our government and leaders, with out fear of reprisal, is way too often taken for granted. This is why it is so very important that we guard our liberties and constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. Once they are allowed to begin eroding, there is no turning back.

Maybe but the point of this thread was to show how photos were being used in a disingenuous way. You can question whatever you like but when presented with facts you accept them from wherever they come from. Facts are facts whereever you find them. In this case the people admitted the photos were doctored or staged.
I am getting tired of the constant division in this country where everyone has to believe only in what their side is presenting. Do the research and if what is presented is right then accept the fact. Facts are no partisan, country based or even faith based. They just are. It is not who is right or wrong it is simply what is right or wrong. I think we could all get along better in the world if people were just willing to accept facts and leave it at that.
These photos were doctored no matter who the group presenting this fact is. [huh] That was my whole point.
