Tito, it is John's Japanese veg tanned hh with a seal aniline finish. It's amazing stuff and getting better each time it's worn!

Hey Paddy, I know you've posted pics of you in your RoughWear before, but do you have any of you in the various "John" stances you could post? Would be great to see a fit comparison of Andrew's Dubow and your model for a comparison.

Gosh Andrew, compared to your pic of you in the RoughWear, this Dubow makes the RW look pretty baggy.

The RW is an entirely different cut to the Dubow. I would not use the term "baggy" to describe the RW. It is simply how it was designed to drape based on original RWs.

GOOD MORNING Brooklyn - I have five hours on you! thanks for the feedback, it's a lovely jacket, and bear in mind that it's a few years old, so has had 'break in' time and scuffs ..etc, that Andrew's has yet to get. But hopefully it shows you that there isn't a 'bagginess' about the RW.

Hey there, Ireland. How's things on your side of the pond? And ha, yes, I regret using that term "baggy" already, as it seems to inevitably conjure images of the modern "mall" jacket, which these fine specimens certainly are not. You'd think, for a writer, I would choose my descriptors more carefully.

At any rate, I currently own an original Aero, the cut of which I like very much. (Not sure of the contract number, but it's the one with the rust colored knits.) I've got an order in with John for a Rough Wear, which should be ready for production some time this month. My original order was for a Dubow, so with all this waiting time on my hands, I keep second guessing myself as to which style I would like the best. Still leaning toward the Rough Wear, despite recent pics of Andrew's fantastic jacket.

Just a heads-up to anyone who's interested, I will be selling my original Aero within the next few months, when I receive my new Goodwear. It's a size 38, in darn good shape. Not sure of its history; the liner has several names and serial numbers written in it, but I have, as yet, been unable to make any positive identifications. You could say, however, that the jacket's story has continued into present day with me. I'm a former U.S. Air Force mechanic for the U-2 reconnaissance plane, as well as a former honor guard member. I proposed to my fiance while wearing it, at sunrise on a beach in South Carolina, while en route from Brooklyn to Texas.

O.K., enough of my rambling. Will post pics and details of new Good Wear when it comes in. Details of the Aero will follow at some point.

I *think* Andrew's Dubow with the lovely berry knits will age fantastically and just look better-and-better as it takes all the slings-&-arrows that life throws at it!! the hide reminds me of 'shaved' FQHH, which is downright gorgeous.

Gents - it would be *more* interesting to hear about the models you've decided to opt for and any extras you've added in (like zips, hide type, colour, knits..etc) and *why* you went for that particular one above all others :)

That would be of GREAT HELP to other members who are thinking about getting an A-2 and either haven't heard of GoodWear or want help in making an informed decision :)

*(With respect Gents - reading about the production times and a 'countdown' doesn't really help. The positive interest to members is in the jacket detail - which is *why* you've probably gone with this manufacturer - So...let us all know why! :) ).

I have worn the Dubow almost every day for the last couple of weeks and it got plenty of wear when I went to Amsterdam this week. It is breaking in nicely now. The sheen is now much less pronounced and the arms have wrinkled nicely. It has not had any hot water treatment, just honest wear! I'll post some pics at the weekend.

There have been many threads on the FL discussing wait times for jackets from Aero, GW and others. I realise there is temptation to see where one is in the queue and when a jacket might be ready. However there are many variables to consider, including the availability of specific types of hh which can mean that some people have to wait longer than others for certain jackets. Therefore contacting the maker direct is perhaps the best way to go.

JACKET - TRACKIT THREAD NOW OPEN.
We ALWAYS ADVISE you deal DIRECTLY WITH MANUFACTURERS with any concerns or gripes, as only 'you' and the 'maker' have the full picture, but you need to communicate together to get that picture and a full understanding of your particular situation (that is particular to 'you' and no-one else).
As there seems to be *some need* to mark your waiting times, the thread (link below) is there for 'that.'
Only 'you' and the 'maker' can resolve and clear up any discrepencies or misunderstandings - so "CONTACT THE MAKER" please.
This particular discussion ENDS HERE - Thankyou :)

Paddy - M.

New gw dubow 20960

I recieved this jacket from John a few weeks ago. It's his new 20960 pattern and it's beautiful!
John made it for his site and was kind enough to offer it to me. I was happy as could be when it fit just right. The russet hide has nice weight to it and is the best aniline yet. Workmanship is perfect as usual. Here are some pics.

Here are some pics of my GW Dubow after two weeks wear. It is beginning to break in now and the hh is developing a nice character found on originals from this contract.
