New to the Lounge

How's it going everyone?

Since I'm new to the Lounge, order up and put it on my tab...

If you're the kinda people that want to know where the drinks are commin' from... Nuff said.

Now I've been called many things, but for this forum I'll go with Badluck Brody.

I grew up in back alleys of Brewtown, but don't hold that against me. And though I might be a scrapper at heart, I take care of the people that take care of me. Which simply means that I wear my heart on my sleeve, regardless of the weather.

Now I could go on telling lies and spinning tales about how great a fella I am. But the bottom line is don't be shy and let's make the house holler. Cuz one helluva guy has hit the Lounge and the drinks are on me!

How-do JP?

I'm the kinda guy that like everything from the movies and music, to the cars and the clothes.

You see, growing up in Old Milwaukee it wasn't hard maitaining what some could consider a throwback image. Most of the dreggs I grew up with were either slicks or punk. We grew up listening to everything from Blues to Rockabilly, Big Band to Classic Jazz.

I tried to keep that edge with my photo work, which is where my love of Film Noir really stood out. (IE my avitar) When I get a chance, I'll drop some of my portfolio onto a link.

So I hope this fills in some of the blanks. It's good to hear from some new folks.

Take care

Brody,

I spent some time in your hometown many years ago in the late 80's. I lived in West Allis but worked in Milwaukee. What a great city! Lots of real ethnic neighboorhoods that had not only survived - but had thrived over the years. I hope that is still the case. And man, some of the best beer and food that you could find anywhere!

One of my fondest memories is of a little old Italian guy behind the deli case at the Italian grocery where I used to shop. I picked up on him in a hurry. If you asked for a pound of something in English, you got A pound. If you spoke to him in Italian and asked for the same thing, you paid for a pound but took home between a 1¼-1½ pound! I ate pretty well for a guy without much cash thanks to my Italian grandmother and her insistence that I learn her language too!

How are things in Milwaukee these days - has the downtown made a comeback? I may have to plan a summer roadtrip north!

It might be home, but sometimes....

Hey Johnnysan.

Brewtown might be home. But it ain't like it used to be anymore...

I'm talking bars on the windows right on 27th street. Most of the old hang outs, drive-ins and chopshops have been sold out. Some were just bad attempts at fixing what's not broken. What a waste...

I go back to see family and friends once in a while. But I do miss the old days...

Too bad...it's a shame that so many cities choose to strip the heart and soul out of their character in order to make way for "progress."

So where so you hang your hat these days? You mentioned that I was south of you...I'm guessing Chicago?
