New Store to Shop Toys McCoy in NYC

I hang out in SoHo today, and randomly ran into this quality Japanese clothing store. It has a very unnoticeable entrance, but the large area inside quite surprised me.

It’s basically like another Selfedge, but much larger, with tons of quality Japanese Denim products. Of course, the prices are also of the top tier.

They don’t carry too many leather goods, and the only leather jackets I saw are Toy Mccoys. They have A-2, B-6 and A-1(or possibly similar style) jackets.

Definitely an interesting place to visit, and a good place to buy for those with deep pockets.

It’s called Blue in Green, and it also has a website. Forgive me if this posting looks like an ad lol, just try to provide some info for the folks here.

Blue in Green has been around for quite awhile. They used to be dealer of Real McCoy's. Even opened a RM store next door when RM made deals with its dealers to open exclusive stores around the world. Somehow fell out with RM a few months after the opening of the RM store. Heard they ended up closing the RM NYC and returned all RM products. I guess that's why they are stocking Toys now.

Actually BiG is maybe older than SESF, and BY FAR older than SENY, and actually a better shop in my personal opinion. Staff is better, coffee is nice, and i like how they mixed denim stuff with some new and more modern clothes. The selection is good tho, Kapital, and some other brands. I'm always visiting them when im in NYC.

So is there a place in the states where one can try these Japanese makers?

I had finally gotten to NYC last year and was disappointed to find that the RM store had closed.

I’ve always wanted to see their G-1 jackets, but short of buying one never thought I’d have the chance unless I went to Japan.

Standard and Strange sell some RMC jackets and are the US dealer atm. Self Edge has some Fine Creek models, but No- there isn’t an “under one roof” place unless you go to Inspiration.
By the way, stop into Manahatta just a block or two south of Self Edge for some cool Japanese brands, but no leather jackets.

RM produces different types of jacket every season/year. G-1 was last produced in F/W 2018. I doubt you can find the G-1 (last year's stock) except in the main RM stores in Japan.

They have ANJ-3A in 2019 though.

Thanks!

I never realized that they didn’t have a running product line.

The G-1 series is my jacket of choice. So while I might like to see some of the other Japan imports out of curiosity, I’ve really always wanted to see a RM or TM Navy jacket as I have always heard so much about them.

I had thought the NY store opening was finally my chance. Let’s hope they try another store in the US sometime.

Some items are made pretty much every year owing to the demand though not guaranteed. Items like Buco J100, J24, A-2 and some versions of N-1.

Walked by BIG yesterday. I have to say that I like SE way better. BIG has a huge collection of their own jeans, but besides that there was nothing that grabbed my attention. A little too hipster for my taste. I prefer the great selection of e.g. denim jackets, t-shirts etc at Self Edge. Anyways, for sure worth a visit!
