I had this seersucker suit made for me in Afghanistan a couple of years ago, and as I lost some weight soon after getting back, it is a bit large for me. In fact, I have never gotten around to actually wearing it! I obtained the fabric in the USA, but had a local tailor whip up the suit based on some old Esquire illustrations.

He did pretty well with the drape and general appearance of the suit - patch pockets, a nice, high waist with deep pleats on the trousers, and a fair attempt at a "fishtail" back on the trousers. 2 button, with a ventless back. He got the suspender buttons a mite close together, and he didn't add a lapel buttonhole.

I would size this as a 48 "medium long" or "portly" - Dimensions are as follow -
Trousers: Waist 44", Inseam 31" w/ 1.25" cuff and 1" turned under, Outseam 44" (top of waistband to hem), Rise 14" (bottom of crotch to top of waistband).

Jacket: Chest 50" (pit to pit laid flat = 25"x2), Back of shoulders (seam to seam) 21". Waist (across top button while fastened) 48", Sleeve (top of shoulder seam to cuff) 24.25" (underarm to cuff) 16", Length (bottom of back collar to hem) 31.5".

Condition is new - I have only tried it on a couple of times. The color is a bluish gray with a taupe or clay colored stripe - at a distance looks like either gray or slate blue depending on the light. A nice suit for transition into late summer or even early fall in the warmer areas!

$150 shipped in USA - overseas please enquire first about shipping cost.

One thousand drats, MM. This suit is just too large for me to have altered. I'd need 47-48" jacket and 37-38" trousers. Mother of all bummers. I hope you are holding up OK with the miserable weather of the sandhills this year.

Yes, it was horrible down there week before last - I have been on leave for the past week & go back on Monday. Noticed your quote by Robert Ruark - I just read a really good book by him "The Old Man and the Boy". I think he was from down around Southport or Wilmington.
