New? Pike Bros A-2

The ribbing on the knits looks a little heavy and I'd expect they have a seam. Looks liked the lining is a dark brown - and satin? Otherwise, though, looks like a nice, generic A2. If it equals the usual Pike quality, it'll be a nice jacket. That said, the Aero Real Deal A2 still looks like a step up to me, for only EU50 more. The Pike could be a good bargain used, though.

I bought one of these in Dec last year. Returned it. It was ok, very average... didn't like the hide or the fit, (personally feel you can find better jackets for that bundle of cash).
Not nearly as nice as the AVI Bronco jacket, which is much better... More accurate patterns and components, better fit, more comfortable... not too mention a lot cheaper.
Even for purists, AVI's jacket is fantastic... If you want to patch or paint one up for messing around in... its a great option.
(More expensive, but also nice is Cockpit's WW2 issue horsehide jacket and Aero's real deal yes...).

It looks "wrong" to me.

The shoulders a too wide, the arms look very tubey, the collar is weirdly small/short, the knits are super ribbed, the leather looks like it was rubbed with acetone...
It reminds me of these bad 80s A2 that used to be everywhere. IMO you can find much better than that for that kind of money!

Yes, those AVIs look really nice; I've long been tempted by the idea of a CBI theatre A2 with all the bells and whistles; that sort of price would make it viable for something like that that would et worn less often, I think, than a plainer jacket. The Pike seems to me to be just a bit too expensive for what it is.... That said, I'm looking at it from pov of an accurate milspec jacket. It's much closer to the sort of mil-inspired, fashion jacket that a civilian would actually have worn in the post-war years. From that pov, and if the quality is good, it may well be worth it to some. I'd just go the extra for a Real Deal, myself, or buy one of those AVIs for less.

Intersting to see Pike get into leather, though. I'd certainly look twice if they made a leather B15ish type, like the Eastman Air Comfort.

I got bored over the weekend and took some surgical spirits to my AVI Bronco... Subtly... I will post some pics when I get a chance. Its a great jacket to mess with, without going into a panic...
