Way back in January 1990 I went to Harrods for their annual January sale. Having just read *Brideshead Revisited*, and heading in the Fall to St Andrews University, Scotland (with Oxford, one of the most beautiful and unspoiled medieval universities in the UK) I decided that I definitely needed some cravats to wear with my tweeds.
And so I purchased these cravats, at the bargain sale price of 20 UK pounds each.
I loved these cravats, and looked at them often... But never wore them for fear of spoiling them. Besides, while lots of people DID wear cravats at St Andrews, I tended to wear an LL Bean Norwegian sweater under my oversize tweed jacket or Barbour (the full-length Burghley model, which meant I looked ridiculous), which didn't lend itself to being accompanied by something as elegant as a Harrods silk cravat.
Luckily, this means that you lucky people have the rare opportunity to acquire an unworn vintage silk cravat, made in England for Harrods of London by Michelson's of London (founded in 1937).
I originally thought that these featured a subtle crosshatch pattern--but when photographing them today I realized that this actually consists of a VERY subtle repeating display of Harrods' signature script "H"!
I have seven available. Each cravat is $25.... a steal, considering that the 1990 SALE price of 20 UK pounds would be the equivalent of around $60 now!

All cravats are in excellent condition; all are New Old Stock, and unworn.
