Hi, I'm new here. My friend Kentucky Blues showed me this site. I registered a little while ago, but this is my first post. Anyway, right now I, sadly, only have one fedora. I bought it about two years ago, and, from what I know about hats, it's pretty decent quality, albeit nothing too special. When I bought it, the brim was flat. I've been trying to flex the brim so it's down in front and up in back, but it happens to be a bit stiff. And on top of that, when I try to flex part of the brim, another part will slightly flatten. Does anyone have any tips on flexing brims?

Since you probably don't have a flange, have you tried a standard steam iron? You can push the steam out (or use steam from a kettle) to shape that baby how you like.

A little trick I use on my fedoras to get th brim to snap just right is steam and a clean aerosol can that is the right circumference.
Steam the brim until the stiffener relaxes. When it does set the hat on a soft clean surface with the can resting on the brim so that it holds it snapped down with a little curl. The hat will be at a near right angle to the surface you have it on with the crown resting against the surface with the brim snapped down. When it dries/cools it will stay that way. Just be caureful to get it straight and even from side to side. ;)

Regards to all,

J
