Hello everyone. I just signed on to become a new member to this wonderful organization. I've been a major fan of the 1930's through the 1950's time era, from film to music to different antiquities and mostly hats! I live our in Pinellas county of Florida and if anyone knows of any places around FL that have fedoras or cloths and or collectables from those eras, Also any places to swing dance please let me know. Thankyou!

Conventional wisdom used to be that places with large numbers of older folks (parts of Florida, for instance) had relatively good pickings in the thrift stores, because, well, you know, those older guys were much more likely than younger guys to own nice old hats and because only one thing follows old age, besides older age, and the permanently recumbent don't have much use for their hats, so those lids ended up in the thrift shops. But I fear that those days are, like so many of those old timers, long gone. Oh, sure, the occasional vintage lid still pops up at the charity thrift shop, but not like they used to.

I bought a couple nice fedoras in Burlington Coat factory, one ina place in the tyrone area in Pinellas county called "Mr.Mans" and a nice newsboy cap in JCPenny's. I might hit the thift shops soemtime or Antique shops. Who knows what kinds of golden aged goodies i could find. Thanks for the tip!;)
