Hi guys! I've been lurking on this site a long time for reference and to learn about vintage hairstyles, but recently I came across a style I want to imitate and figured I'd finally join up here so I can ask the experts about it! I took the photos to my stylist but she wasn't sure, so I figured if anyone can tell me, it's you guys. :)

If you're familiar with the classic movie The Women, then you'll recognize these screencaps. I REALLY want to know how to duplicate this hairdo, especially the bangs! I'm not sure at all how to create the ridged effect that you see in these pictures.

If anyone has any ideas on how to do this, I'd sure appreciate it! thanks!

Hi Cinderella,

I'm new as well!

I'd say her hair is definitely pincurled and brushed out. If you look on You Tube at Lisa Freemont Street's uploads, you'll find loads of wonderful ways to create perfect pincurls.

The bangs (or fringe as we call them in the UK!) look like they've been curled or folded under which may have given that ridged effect when released and brushed out.

Lisa has a video that recreates Barbara Stanwyck's hairstyle from Double Indemnity and it's quite similar to the pictures you've posted.

Hope this helps.

Laura
