I received my brown Bronx jacket just before Easter and have finally got around to posting some pictures. It is beautifully constructed from thick cow hide. It is in reality a reproduction of the 1960s Bronx jackets and is very similar to my two originals. The Clix main zip is very robust as are the sleeve and pocket zips. Clix zips were used on Bronx jackets from the late 1960s through to the 1970s. It is a good fit and the quilted lining really keeps one warm on a chilly spring day. Here are some pics taken today.

Looking good, I am a big fan of Lewis Leathers but some of the leather in previous years felt a little 'thin'. It may have just been my perception, but I'm glad to see they're forging back into more heavyweight territory, and even saw a mention that they're trying out some new horsehides.
Enjoy breaking in your new jacket anyway, it looks great!

Andrew, the fit is perfect. Nice high armholes and slim sleeves. I've never seen a brown version of this type of jacket and it really looks nice.

Thanks. It is made from thick heavy duty hide and certainly can't be described as "thin". I already own two black vintage LL Bronx jackets so that is why I went for dark brown. I'm really pleased with it. I no longer have a motorbike, but I just like the design of the Bronx jacket.

Extremely beautiful and cool looking jacket. I was watching that Mods vs Rockers documentary just yesterday, the owner of LL was talking about the Bronx which was featured for a good few minutes - albeit the one on the show didn't have a sleeve pocket - and I was thinking how awesome it is.

Thanks Monitor. I watched the Mods v Rockers programme a few weeks back and particularly enjoyed the feature on LL. The early Bronx jackets did not have the sleeve pocket. Below is my 1959 Bronx and it too does not have it.

Nice jacket :) Most bikers I knew carried their 'bacca' for roll ups in that sleeve pocket.
Got any pics of your biking days Andrew? What did you ride? Not enough vintage motorcycle pics on here.

My biking pictures are pre-digital so I have none immediately to upload. I used to ride a black 550 Suzuki in the late 1970s.

aswatland; Yep, that was the one. :) Perfect jacket! I see they moved the zipper on the top of the sleeve, too. BTW, what is that metal snap-looking thingy, next to the left snap on the lancer front?

Hi Andrew - that is an awesome jacket, and it looks great on you!

I am wondering how much range of motion you have with the narrow arms and high armholes? Is it constrictive? Can you bend your elbows easily? Does the action back really make it easy to move and reach?

Thanks,

Bob

The jacket does not restrict movement at all and the further it gets broken in the better it will be.

I missed this previously. Sharp looking jacket, Andrew. I was recently prompted to snoop out Lewis again - actually, it was the video for Imelda May's Tribal single, and the shoot from the album cover, in both of which she's wearing what looks to me to be a ladies' Lightening... As a rule, I lose interest in jackets designed after 1959, though I do find myself tempted by the twin-track Bronx - great concept (Were Lewis the first to do this commercially? I've seen it on many modern / Power-Rangers type leathers, but nothing earlier than this). Ideally, I'd like to omit the additional sleeve pocket. Really nice to see Lewis up and running again these past few years: they definitely bring something to the market that wouldn't otherwise be available. Nice to know the hides are good on the new ones too (I've handled a lot of their 70s jackets which really weren't so good on that front).

You picked up any of Derek's boots to go with them? I'm very tempted by the idea of a pair of Westways, if I could get them with a non-Commando sole.
