I am glad there is an introduction thread, I always feel as though I should properly introduce myself before commenting on anything...

My name is Anna, I am 20 years old (quite the baby, no?), and I live in Oregon.

I am a college student and a hairstylist, both because it is fun, and because it enables me to pursue a degree in creative writing and literature, which, chances are, will not end up being all that lucrative.

I am writer (or at least I like to fancy myself one), I like baking, sewing, and generally all things vintage, specifically 40's/50's. I am basically a 50's housewife....minus, you know, house and spouse. I spend too much of my free time reading, so if you'd like to discuss Beat literature or recite Shakespeare, I'm your girl. :)

You all are fantastic, and I am so happy I found this forum!

Hello, I would also like to introduce myself:
My name is Julia, I'm 24 years old, and a biochemist by occupation.
I take interest in many things vintage, and also in cooking and languages and many many things more! Although usually I lack the time to pursue them all)))
I absolutely don't remember how I found this forum, but I'm very glad I did, as it seems to be a most delightful place.

Julia,

Hi, and welcome! I think most of us have stumbled across the lounge, whilst surfing around for all things vintage. It's a great place, and you'll find we're all quite a friendly bunch! :)

Cheers,

Danny O

I had alread posted before I found this thread, sorry!
I have been lurking for a month or so and finally decided to join in, everyone seems really friendly but a lot of people are so knowledgeable it's a bit daunting
I live in Warwickshire, have four children including twin girls and am definately not 20 :D
I have always loved Vintage since I was a little girl. Spent masses of time with my Grandparents and sat and watched Astaire movies on Saturday afternoons eating woolies pic n mix while Grandma curled my pageboy. Had been concentrating on a sort of Career after the first two sons, then gave up completely after having the twins who are now four. For the last two years I have been remembering how much I loved to craft and all of my Vintage loves - swing, big band, dance movies - I grew up dancing to Glenn Miller on my Grandads toes.
I crochet ( a little ) and sew for the twins and make hairbows & tutus, I craft Birthday supplies, bake cupcakes, cookies and cake pops on a 'friend needs some I'll sell them' basis. I have also decided to start decorating the house and am adding lots of lovely Vintage finds. I had a Vintage 1940's drop end wooden pram for the twins and twin coach built one and I hand smocked their clothes ( for about three weeks:eek:)
Hubby isn't too impressed, he says all we need in the new kitchen is a picture of a spitfire outside the window to complete it. :p
I used to dance, my youngest son is Tap Dancer and uses swing for his routines as well as Electro Swing which I am becoming addicted too.
I have never been to any events or weekends but I hope to be brave enough to this year so if anyone sees me be kind about a new girls outfits!
Am so happy to have found this place, am always being called odd. I like good manners, am quite old fashioned in my thinking and feel rather at home here already. Am really looking forward to making some new Vintage friends and finally learning how to tame my wayward locks.

BunnyLamarr,

Good evening, and hello to a fellow Brit! :welcome:

A Spitfire outside the kitchen window, seems a perfectly reasonable request to me!

Cheers,

Hello everyone I am a long time fedora lover. I picked up my first Fedora 27 years ago a Mallory 15.
I love having found this forum. Lots of great hats here. Lots of good info from everyone. I have always worn hats I have alway worn fitted caps be they Fedora's , newsboy's or baseball caps. Remember getting
coopers town fitted baseball caps mail order back in '79. I hope learn a lot from everyone here on the care and feeding of this addiction.

Hey guys!

Another forum newcomer here, just wanted to drop by and say 'Hi'!

I'm a 26 year old trainee Broadcast Journalist. I live in rainy, old England right now, but I'm Canadian/British and have lived in both countries throughout my life. I love vintage clothing and make-up, especially anything connected to the 40's and 50's. I like listening to old music - Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra are my boys. I can spend hours happily engrossed in old movies, especially the movies with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne, they're probably my all time favourite screen pairing, but there's far too many screen stars I adore from that period to even contemplate listing.

I've been lurking around here for a while and finally thought it was time to introduce myself. It looks like an awesome place and I'm really happy to be here!

Hello to you too! It's nice to know I am not the only person who feel this way :D Even my dear old Grandma looks at me like I lost the plot sometimes although she is a veritable source of information!
You're not a million miles away either :D
