NEW IN BOX! ASHLAND LEATHER 'TONY THE ANT' WALLET
IN GORGEOUS HORWEEN SHELL CORDOVAN
IN GORGEOUS HORWEEN SHELL CORDOVAN
Ashland Leather are making some of the best and most beautiful leather goods in the USA today. All of their items are hand-made in small batches in their Chicago workshop.
They only use leather from the Horween tannery in Chicago. One of the oldest continuously operating tanneries in the USA, Horween was founded in 1905 and still tans all of its leathers using traditional processes--processes which rely on a lot of handwork!
True to their Chicago roots Ashland names its wallets after members of the Chicago mob--this is their Tony the Ant wallet.
This Tony the Ant is made from Horween's Shell Cordovan leather. So called because of the oval shaped leather horsehide "shells" from which it is made, this leather takes at least six months to prepare. Each is steeped in vegetable liquors, then hot stuffed and slicked onto glass frames to dry. They are then hand curried and shaved, with dyes being hand-rubbed for a deep aniline finish they are then hand glazed to achieve shell cordovan's rich, glossy look.
This wallet is made from leather that still carries one of Horween's industrial stamps marking it as Shell Cordovan--this appears in the interior of the leather. The interior leather is also hand-splashed with deep purple dye, ensuring that this wallet is absolutely unique. The hand-stitching on this wallet is also purple, as my close-up shows--the attention to detail is wonderful!
The Tony the Ant holds up to 16 cards--4 in each slot. The large bill slot holds every paper currency, while the exterior can (according to Ashland--I haven't verified this) hold a US passport "in a pinch".
This wallet, like all Ashland products, is guaranteed for life.
Measurements: 5.25" x 4" x 0.75".
This wallet is New, Unused, and comes complete with EVERYTHING that accompanies a new wallet from Ashland! It has its original box, original Ashland bag, a Horween tag, and its original Ashland tag.
This originally retailed for $495 as a special release Private Stock wallet.
It is New, and Boxed--so while it does have the usual minor "bloom" on the leather surface as all Shell Cordovan has when stored it is in PERFECT condition.
So, how about just $225, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA? OFFERS VERY WELCOME!
