While searching my clothes rail for my 40’s Hercules halfbelt I found this one - I’d forgotten about it - just stashed it fast some time ago before it was spotted by the ‘fashion police’ (my wife Liz) sayer of those fateful words ‘You’re not going out of the house with me wearing that!’.
Anyway I haven’t researched it yet so I thought Id ask here - Does anyone know who might have made it?
Is it from the fifties?
Cheers
Rob

I typically think of HH being out of use by most makers in the early 60s. Cal Leather and Taubers of California seem to go into the 60s with the use of Horsehide, but I don't see HH anywhere else.

My guess on the HH Excelled is early 60s late 50s. Perhaps among the last use of HH in that era. I loved the fit of mine, but the leather quality and workmanship were lower grade.

I do like the brownish color.

Excelled, the short stubby collar, thick stiff coated horsehide, glue on label, I have two sitting on my floor, half taken apart, a brown and a black. I particularly like the chevron yoke flight jacket they made.

I think you’re correct ref: dates and that would fit with the zipper pull and stopper. I wasn’t so sure about the colour at first - it has a hint of ‘oxblood’ shoe leather but I like it now as it’s a pretty unusual colour for a jacket.
