Pleased to meet you.

I've often found myself at your forum whilst surfing for vintage clothes.

I figured it's about time I signed up.

Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do.

My Avatar hasn't come out too well.
That's Arnold Cunningham, a character from the movie "Christine".

I have a copy of the car that stars in the Movie, she was supposed to be a 1958 Plymouth Fury.

I'm looking for clothes that'll compliment my car.
Everything I seem to come across is Rockabilly gear.

I'm trying to find more formal attire, 1940's fashions are similar to 1950's but I don't want to have to remortgage my house to be able to buy anything.

Can you point me in the right direction please?

Here's what I'm particular after:

A shawl necked pullover, not a cardigan or too heavy, preferably in Brown.
High waisted pleated slacks, most pegged trousers seem to cost over £70 from what I can see.
A 1950s style single breasted Sports coat to accompany the above.

Whilst my hair is still present, I've managed a good 1940s/ 50's slicked back look but I'm tired of wearing denim.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello and welcome to being here! I have no education as to what may be available in your area, but I personally can tell you if you cruise the internet and put in the time, you may find what you are looking for. At times you may see someone selling the very item you are seeking on the classified section of the boards here. If you do not know about other sites that are similar to ebay, you may wish to search for them as well and keep seeking the items you have an interest in. You will see also that there is a spot here for people to share where they have found good deals on, and that may also help you.

It is hard to find things I may look for due to sizes, you will find that happens often, that you will see exactly what you are looking for, but, it is five sizes too big or too small! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I've been delving a little more deeply than I would normally do and come up with some good links.

Late Forties/ Early fifties Gaberdine and Hollywood jackets.

I haven't had time to read too much here (I administer a Classic American Car forum) but intend doing so soon during the evenings of a long course I'm booked to attend.

I'll post some of the resources I've found soon too.

Here's one for a taster, please excuse me if this has been mentioned before:

I just signed up as well with a similar experience so my reply is a bid tardy. I have modeled many vintage websites clothing and though I am not speaking for all the websites clothing, a lot of it is cheap stuff you can get on ebay cheaper. That being said, there are great vintage clothing sites but you usually pay out the nose. I don't like paying $48 for a shirt and don't believe I ever have. I have found most of what I wear from a good knowledge of the decade I'm 'feeling' that day and also hitting thrift stores and garage sales. I have an intuition for what clothes will be wear it seems. Depending on where you live different vintage stores are available. You seem to have it narrowed down and if you want something that bad you may have to pay. ;)

Thanks for the reply guys.

Sorry mine is so late.

I haven't been able to log in for a while.... I'm busy reading up on what I've missed.

I posted a few clothing links last time I was here, I can't recall what I posted before regarding vintage clothing, I'll download all the links I've got ASAP.

Here's one for staters...... has anyone mentioned MilkCow Magazine before?

Welcome to the Lounge! I would start to look at the vintage section of eBay for "Atomic" clothes in your size. They are a flecked type of wool material that was peculiar to the 50s and has a great look.

Thanks for the links and advice guys.

I'm mainly a fifties fan... although I like some of it, the Rockabilly thing gets a bit same-y.

I'm tired of white tee-shirts and Jeans with Turn-ups (Cuffs).

There's some great stuff on this forum..... I've got a lot of reading to do.

Cheers!

Lee.

edit...... Atomic..... that a new one on me.
It's in my eBay search engine now... thanks!!!
