Nice addition to ELMC stock, lately :):

Latest addition to the ELMC jacket stable and available to order as of today the Highway Star®️ Horsehide jacket. The Highway Star takes its cut and design features from the classic California Highway Patrol jackets of the 1940s. The flattering cut is neat and very easy to wear. No fuss details give it a lean look which fits any occasion. Buttoned tab cuffs, and matching tab side waist adjusters along with top yoked back give the garment the unmistakable 40s styling that makes this the 'dude' of all jackets.

The garment is lined with custom-made EndZone Twill. This is our own fabric we had produced exclusively, which is an extremely high quality luxurious hard-wearing material, that was originally conceived in the 1940s and used in the production of military flight jackets. It is a cotton-backed rayon fabric that has an incredibly dense weave construction giving it a super-slick handle which allows the garment to slide on and off the body effortlessly.

That is very nice! The lines look to be almost exactly the same as my new LW CHP. But without the laced side cinches and the zip sleeves it definitely has more of a classic jacket vibe and less motorcycle feel.
If this was around back in January when I ordered my LW I probably would have bought one of these instead and never looked back. Although then I would’ve denied myself the pain and pleasure of 4 oz HH.

A minute apart...two completely valid opposing opinions :). Got a kick out of that.
lol, after I posted that, I was curious if anyone else besides myself isn't a fan of that style collar. It's the biggest reason why I don't have a ELMC Havana Californian in my closet right now.

Very nice jacket generally, but I'm siding with the crowd against the collar- shapeless and doesn't lay flat.

I don't care for the collar either. I had the opportunity to pick up an ELMC Havana Californian and passed because of the collar. Too bad, as in all the pics I've seen, the ELMC leather is beautiful stuff. I do like the Windward quite a bit.

Also funny, I have a walnut Californian. Probably why I like the collar. They aren't exactly the same but certainly similar.

With that said, the FW Mullholland collar is outstanding and much more pleasing to the eye...IMO of course.

The collar on the brown jacket has a lot better shape than the black jacket spread collar IMO. Most likely due to the border going around the collar and collar opening straight down to the end of zip at a lower point.
