NEW ELC CABLE A2 IN HORSE HIDE

The jacket arrived yesterday after a four week wait and it was well worth the wait. I have owned three ELC Cables before, the early HH in a size 40, an early goat which had purple tones and the recent goatskin offering. This is my favourite by far. It's a size 42.

Leather
The Warhorse hide is great, with areas of grain and smoother leather. It is very similar in colour to my ELC 1933 Werber and GW 1939 Werber, which I have pictured below. It is not as light as the pictures on the Eastman website.

Hardware
The Kwik zipper is a nice touch and is far more robust than the early ELC version of this zip used on their first batch of hh Cables in the 1990s. Overall the shape and details are very close to original Cables. I wish it had small ring snaps which are found on many original Cables, but this is a minor point. I have made modification to the pocket snaps by creating the correct indentation in the male parts!

Lining and labelThe lining is the correct mustard colour and the knits are very close to the original set on my 27753 original. The spec label is a close match to those found on originals from this contract.

Measurements
Pit to pit: 23" across the shoulders: 19" Sleeves (including knit):25" down the back (from base of collar): 26"

I will try to get my younger son to take some pictures of the Cable being worn tomorrow but he was out today when I took the following shots in the garden.

Thanks for the pics of the Cable and Werber side by side. Except the the Werber's narrower collar, I don't see much difference. I do prefer the Werber because of the collar design.

warhorse finish

Hi Andrew,
The jacket looks great. The hide has a lot of nice grain to it. Any idea on how the finish will wear? I am sitting on the fence between the ELC Cable or a GW RW. I am leaning towards the ELC mainly for the shipping time.
thanks
JZ

Here are some pictures after hot water treatment. Sections of grain have become more pronounced and the jacket has lost its rather shiny new look.
