Wow - that's wonderful. You OK with the changes? 'Cause from here, I'm jealous. I love the wine Alpaca - I asked for it in my 50's HBD, so I'm excited to see it here.
Well done. Congrat's.

HD;

Lookin' good!
I've always felt the Stuart is under appreciated. "You wear it well". Wasn't that an old Rod Stewart song with Ronnie Wood on lead?

Seriously HD.........another great stable mate addition to your herd.
Enjoy it in good health.

Best regards,
coffee

Hi Butte
Well...I once had some very nice black'Vintage' HH on a Levis 'made by Aero' Bootlegger type jacket that I purchased years ago. That's what I was expecting..but got a 'Vintage' finish instead. I'm thinking that maybe Aero doesn't carry the true grainy Vintage HH in black anymore. I do know that they still do carry the true grainy Vintage in brown. I checked the black 'Vintage HH' box on the order form..but evidentally that refered to the finish(not as glossy). Yep..I am OK with it. It came with some nice marbling already in the hide..but 'man' is this jacket stiff..! Out of a Doz or so that I've had...this has got to be the stiffest..!

Very nice Stuart HD. It's just not credible that you would up and quit at this point. I'm not going for it! Seriously though, enjoy this new one. It looks great.

Very interesting HD! The color looks almost like a seal brown hide, is it the lighting? I would have to agree with coffee, the Stuart is much under appreciated. I dare say all of aeros models that arent a highwayman or halfbelt do not get the attention they deserve. Speaking of which, Has enough wear and time elapsed to give us an update on your bootlegger?

HD: given your extensive Aero collection, what hide is your favorite for a non-A2 model?

Aero's regular heavy brown FQHH for utility jackets..hands down. The more mottled and antiqued the brown color..the better for me. I do have Aero's medium and hvy weight steer..as well as seal buffalo that they onced offered..but Aero's FQHH is so unique even among other HHs. With good wear it marbles with grain..and developes a burnished look of great rustic charactor. Sorry...I've just never been much for goat..although I do have a couple G-1s.
How about you?...What kind of hide do you like?

Yes..I think it is the glare of the setting sun. It is kind of a satin black..not a flat black..but just a touch of shine. Well I must admit that I've worn the Bootlegger around in the AC on occassion...but outside the familyroom door it has been in the 90s until about a week ago. It'll probably be the end of October before I can get any good wear on it. It has softened and relaxed somewhat..but needs some active outside wear to make any big differences.

What a terrific jacket! The fit is spot on and the jacket has a number of unique details that I really like; starting with the wine alpaca (which looks just classy), to the button arrangement including the double leather cuffs and the little prong to close the breast pocket. Just imagine how much extra time went into sewing on and locking all these buttons...

The Stuart has a very fresh overall look to my eyes because at first sight you really don't know where to put it. It is a blend of many well proven jacket styles: A bit of Halfbelt, a bit of MC jacket mixed with a tad of 30s aviator and civilian utility jacket. And the mixture really works!!
In addition to that part of the reason why the jacket is so beautiful is its colour. Like you I'm a sucker for Aero's brown FQHH but this jacket just has to be black! You wear it well!

...and to stick with the old Rod Stewart song:
"Anyway, my coffees cold and I'm gettin told
that I gotta get back to work..."

Another WOW-Jacket...

Hi HD - many thanks for posting - YES its a WOW jacket. I ordered my first Windward 2006 in black VINTAGE FQHH and its one of my favourite hide.
Needless to say - but I have to .... the fit is spot on and the look of black vintage HH combined with the wine alpaca is "delicious"!!:eusa_clap

I feel the same like you - cannot leave my eyes from nice grainy part of the jacket - its like looking into a beautiful countryside ...
Oh, I'm happy that you know that Aero's current brown Vintage brown got the heavy grain which I am after...have one on order and waiting...waiting ....waiting...

That's a fantastic looking jacket and have to agree the wine is stunning against the black leather.

Thanks 'too much'

Wow it seems you have tried all the different linings. Any possibility of you listing them in order from most warm to cold?

HD: like you, goat is not my favorite. BUT. I just received an Aero A2 Bronco in brown Cape Skin that I love. A2's are the only jacket aside from the G1 that need a thinner hide. That said, I love FQHH and steer hides.
From afar, I've dreamed of an Aero in the brown FQHH and now I'm just gonna have to wait on the 50's HBD. Hoping to have it for this winter...got a removable fur collar per Jansolo's suggestion and asked for wine Alpaca, if available. Thanks for the replies. I've had a hell of a time finalizing the details on mine.

I like it. I think the buttons in combination with the colour give it a smarter, more versatile look than your average motorcycle jacket. It looks like something that could be worn with a tie if need be. It's also unique in that you usually see 3/4 leather jackets with buttons.

Are they hard to fasten at first?
