Negative impact of ozone on leather jackets

I know that some of you use ozone generators to get rid of musty smells and the like, at least as a last resort.

I wonder if the mechanism by which ozone works, it oxidative power, might at the same time impact the integrity of the leather and/or the metal zippers and other hardware.
I have a couple of jackets in need of treatment, one of which has aluminium zippers.

If someone has experienced detrimental effects or can shine a light on the issue, I'll be gratefull.

I have heard of the potential for ozone to damage leather and other materials, but also know of car detailers who use ozone generators to remove stank from car interiors. I have only done this once with a couple of jackets that smelled strongly of smoke. I didn’t care too much about either jacket, so I wasn’t afraid. I hung the jackets in a small tent and ran the ozone for a couple of hours, then let them sit awhile. The smell of smoke was gone and I didn’t notice any detrimental effects to the materials, however, I only wore those jackets a few times in several weeks before I traded them at a local biker gear store. I can’t speak for any long term effects…. Not sure if that was any help..
