Hi again! I was wondering if you guys could help me once more to date a few more suits I have -sooner of later I WILL get to the bottom of this pile! I have three suits here and I'll write a brief description above each one. Click on the thumbnails and that should bring up a new window with a larger picture (this is the first time I'm trying this, so hopefully it will work!)
Thanks again!! Martina :)

The first one is a deep charcoal color with blue stripes. The tag says HOLLYWOOD CLOTHES, CALIFORNIA. I'm guessing by the style and tag that it's a 1940s or 50s. I think it may be 40s because of the skinny partial cuff on the sleeves (which matches the hip pocket flap too). I would like your opinion AND also can you tell me what to properly call those blue stripes? Are they pinstripes, show stripes, chalk lines? The last photo shows the only flaw on this whole thing: a small repair, 1/4"x1/8", at the back of the neck. How badly will that the worth of the suit? This suit is a 40L

The second suit I'm not sure about; It's a dark brown belt-back. I think 1940s but maybe 60s? It's definitely a light weight gaberdine wool. It has a metal zipper and 4 slide clip things above the zipper. BUT the only tag on it says Made in Italy... so I'm at a loss! It's really nice though and looks like it was never worn. It's a 38R

This last suit is one of the ones my Father-In-Law picked up for me to sell; he thinks the company that sold it went out of business in the 60s but isn't sure. I can't decide on a year with this one.. it's sort of looks 70s or 80s but then again maybe not; the lapels are really thing though The fabric is incredibly shiny and a reddish/peachy/burgundy color; you can actually see the plaited weave of the fabric! I don't remember what size this one is, except that it's says Slim on it somewhere. This one has never been worn and has tags but no year on them...

Are the photos showing?

Gosh, I'm sorry about this... I'm used to doing my own HTML on web pages, not in here, and I think my thumbnails are not showing let alone allowing you to click on them and see the larger picture... Can someone let me know? All I can view from my end is the HTML code.
Thanks ~Martina~ :(

Here are the basics from the man in charge. MK

How do I attach a photo?
Follow these simple steps:

1. Upload your image to a server. You can use either your own ISP (internet service provider) or image hosting sites such as: http://system.freepgs.com; www.fotki.com; or www.photobucket.com.

2. Once you have uploaded your photo and can see it in your browser, put your cursor over the photo and right click. Select properties, which will show you the Internet "address" of the photo. Highlight this address and copy it.

3. To attach the image to a post at The Fedora Lounge, start a post and click on the little image icon above the text field. A pop up box will allow you to paste the address of your image. When you are finished, Click "ok." The photo will appear with your post. Only certain types of files may be attached: these are the valid file extensions for files to be attached to this forum.

After posting, the attachment will show up in the body of your message. To view the contents of the attachment (if it is not already displayed) simply click the filename link that appears next to the attachment icon:

That will give large photos...

Thanks for the advice Nick about the photos but these are fairly large and I was trying to put Clickable thumbnails in here, rather than the full sized photos themselves. Marc did it in his Belt-Backed Suits thread, so I know it can be done and I know how to do it in normal webpage HTML... just not Fedora Lounge HTML ;)
Thank you though!

Ok, here you go... big photos

Sorry, I was trying to avoid placing large pictures in the post. Ok, here's the first suit: with the 'Hollywood Clothes, California' label. The others will follow.

dating suits

If the suits have a Union Tag in the inside breast pocket, that sometimes helps to date mens clothing. And the style and depth of the back vent.

Your stripe suit is mid to late 50's; the brown belt back is mid to late 70's; and the pink is late 60's.
