With all the messing around I've done lately, my hair has started to break in a BIG way. I'm beginning to think my best option is to cut it short. Here's my dilema: I've found a cute modern style that I really like, but I don't think it would look good with vintage clothing. So, my question to you ladies is this: do you think this style would look good with 50's dresses or do you think it could be set into a 50's-ish style?

If you make the layers slightly longer and a bit more uniform (not so choppy) It will work well with TRUE 50's hair.

Here's a link to good photos of real 50's hair.

I love that cut. I say go for it. You're going to get frustrated every time you try to style it and it's breaking on you.

You'll still have some length to curl and arrange differently. Headbands will be cute and you could do that Rosie the Riviter do like that video, just poof the crown.

Or still get in some victory rolls in front and bandanda in back.

Buy some more hair peices!

And there's always hats....
It will look darling on you and it'll grow, but I know how you feel!

Well, my friend, I have that hair cut, although I didn't know that's who inspired it. And I'm much cuter. Anyway, my hairdresser loves me because I'm open to suggestion and not afraid to have her cut off all the damaged junk. LolitaHaze and Nikki are as usual correct: it translates into a 50s style. Easily. Almost automatically; I don't even need to set it anymore, with the bonus of letting it heal from heat damage.
I just got back from my hairdresser's to-day for a trim and I love it even more! I say go for it!

Seems like all you have to do

to make it 50s is curl it!
Except it is hard to see if her left side is super short, or just slicked back?

Kamikat, just a thought ~ go to www.instyle.com and click on hair makeover tool,
I am pretty sure that hairdo is on there, that way you can see
what it will look like on you ( just upload your pic ) when its not set !
I have had a heap of fun trying out new styles and colours.

I just 4 inches cut off myself (so now it's a tapered chin length bob), and I love love love it. So go for it! The absolute worst thing that will happen is you decide to grow it out again :D
And Ohairas had great suggestions--there are plenty of adorable headbands and bandanas in fashion right now to "50's up" that style. And with warm weather approaching, it's a great time to go for it!

Here is the cut that inspired me (she's a Burda pattern model):
