Hi ladies -

H43399_040_S.jpg

I found this dress at Coldwater Creek and I love the retro-feel. I'm fairly new at my company and we're having a holiday party at the end of November, and I thought this dress would be perfect.

I'm wondering what types of undergarments I would need to cover up my "wobbly bits." ;) I don't know my measurements right now, but suffice to say that after having a baby and a fierce battle with weight, my abdomen isn't anywhere close to being rock hard. Would this dress enhance my big tummy or could I sufficiently cover it up?

I appreciate any help you could give me as I'm really new to dressing vintage!

Thanks, gals. :)

It depends on were the dress falls. I think with the belt and rhinestone detail it would be perfect. You could get a pair of Spanx or the Target version Assets to wear under the dress. Both brands are made by the same woman and I love Assets.

The dress is beautiful. I wish I could wear red.

Is that a winter dress? If not are you going to be sleeveless at the party or wear a sweater?

Either way a nice shaper like mentions might be just the right amount of support. :)

If the dress is a bit clingy as well I tend to wear a slip underneath so that it glides a bit more. However recommending a slip in this forum seems like a no-brainer. ;)

If the area under your bust is the smaller area of your torso, then yes I think this would be cute and flattering. What is the material? You might need to get a size bigger so it doesn't get too clingy. But yes, I agree a slip and maybe Spanx or something to smooth it out. But the dress is pretty, I love red dresses for the holidays!

It's a polyester-spandex mix, so I'm thinking I might be ok with some good undergarments.

I usually go with the traditional black during the holidays, but I wanted to do something different and fun this year. :) I plan on also doing my hair in a very cute vintage style!

Your red dress is very pretty and definitely has a vintage vibe. If you're doing a retro hairstyle I was thinking you may want to add a hair flower. That's always a nice vintage touch.

For Christmas last year I made this cute haircomb. Just bought some silk holiday flower stuff at Michaels, a clear haircomb, and got out my trusty glue gun. It was easy, inexpensive and looked really cute!

This is so lovely! What a great idea - and going to Michael's or Hobby Lobby is never a chore. ;)

I went ahead and ordered my dress yesterday - they didn't have it in the store here, so they'll ship it free to my house, plus I got $30 off. :)

Now I just need to find the right shoes...
