I've been searching in vain for a black mallory in my size for my wedding which is 5 weeks away. I know there are many other hats but I love mallory.
I've been trying to find any black hat in my size( 7 3/8)

Well while I continue my search, I'm looking for a little advice in terms of buying a new hat should my quest fail. What modern hat would be good fit for the occasion?

Dearest sir, congratulations on your impending nuptuals! As a man that has been imersed in the institution of marriage for some sixteen years plus, I highly recomend it as a way to truly enjoy that which life brings!

Now, regarding your attire - If you are wearing a tux I must almost insist upon a top hat. Now, a fedora is nice, but a top hat is truly the way to go on the day of days.

Best of luck and, once again, congratulations.

No tux for me. I'm having a late thirties style suit made for the occasion which is why I'm not going the top hat route. I had considered all hats, but have not seen many homburgs in my size.

Is there a company that currently makes a homburg of decent quality, and if so who would they be?

First, and most importantly, congratulations and best wishes for a life of happiness to you and your soon-to-be bride! I know that there are many vendors out there (some who are even members of the Lounge), but the only one that I've had any experience with over the Web is Miller Hats. Here is a link to their homburg page: http://www.millerhats.com/homburg_index/homburgindex.html.

Many of Miller's hats are made for them by Biltmore in Canada. A search of the Lounge will reveal that Biltmores are very well thought of by many (including me) and considered to be among the best modern felts. Good luck with your search!

first and foremost

Thank you for your well wishes!
Being a part of The Lounge has been a tremendous pleasure and an invaluable resource. This goes doubly true with regards to my wedding planning. Because of the information I've gained from all you helpful chaps, I've been able to put together an vintage inspired look that I hope will be fantastic. Pictures of course will be posted after the big day.

But going back to hats, I think that unless ebay blesses me, I'll be going with the Miller hat pictured below in black.

Thank you all again!

I would suggest a larger brim on a fedora to go with a tux it looks well. I had a cousin who got married a couple months ago who wanted a hat for his wedding. So I decided to get him one and was like the other fine posters suggested get him a homburg. He didn't want it and was adamant on a fedora. So I gave him this one, http://www.hats-plus.com/detail.aspx?ID=282&Name=Scala-Pinch-Fedora-Hat
It looked great on him but the proof is in the pudding when the bride wants to wear it :p <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/copeseticanarchy/265765633/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/109/265765633_da6bdd21a4_o.jpg" width="302" height="268" alt="Lizhat" /></a>
