RALEIGH, N.C. — Now Jinx Taylor knows just how impeccable her father's taste was: four pieces of jade he bought back in the 1930s and 1940s are worth more than $1 million.

The 18th-century imperial antiques set an "Antiques Roadshow" record when they were appraised at more than $1 million during the PBS show's stop in Raleigh last month.

The 54-year-old Taylor says her father bought the jade in China during the 1930s and 1940s while serving in the Army. He had been stationed in Beijing, where he bought the vase with ruby detailing, an animal figurine, a small bowl and a larger bowl marked "By Imperial Order."
