My trip to Milan: fashion window views

I've just come back from Milan. Happily, the extreme fashions on its runways have not made their mark on the average Milanese woman. On the streets and in shop windows, I saw an overwhelming abundance of good taste: deft uses of color combinations and vintage details. Have a gander:

Some very nice clothes. :) The prints and the jackets are especially nice.

That shade of orange seems to be the latest thing. Glad I stocked up on deep pink while it had a run.

Nice blue and white dress - it would look pretty 30s if it was a foot and a half longer. Only ladies with slender, non-veiny legs can do skirts above the knee.:(

The navy/cream combination looks crisp without being harsh.

I like how the outfits define the waistline: the skirts are flared and there's extra fabric at the top of the bodices (ruffles, collars, scarves, shirred sleeves). It's a nice alternative to shoulder pads.

Just-above-the-knee on me shows just enough muscle to make me look like a gladiator. And I think I have good legs.

I like skirts above the knee, it proves that despite my height (five-nuthin) I do in fact have legs. Calf-length on me, as much as I admire it on others, looks very regrettable.

That blue/cream print looks very wearable to me. Be great with peep-toes, wouldn't it?

That pewter/orange is great. I love the little gray dress with the orange handbag and scarf.

I can't stand the colors they used, but the shapes are all nice. It looks like it will be back to a more classic idea of style than the past few years.

I don't know, to me it looks like plain conservative clothes, just enough vintage-ish to look conservative but not enough vintage-esque to look interesting - boring, to my eyes. But I do agree that the burnt orange color is particularly gorgeous.
