My Marathon did arrive!

Well it got here today. I must say its a nice hat. Almost like my Stratoliner, maybe just a little stiffer. The color is a real light silver belly.
The felt is easy to shape, I put a c-crown in it and pinched the front a little more after the pic. There is a little moth nibble on the underside of the back brim, you cant see it when its on and it not bad at all. But is there any way us 'home hat owners' can repair a nobble?
Overall this is a fine lid, I like it alot.

Beautiful hat, My Friend!
You have very good taste in hats.

BTW, if it is a very small moth hole, a litle creative plucking and blending with a pin will take it out. -Something I learned from a vintage shop here in town. ;)

As I recall

I believe there was a post about a very fine grade sand paper that is used carefully to smooth the area. BUT you better do a little searching. I've never tried myself. By the way, nice lid.

MAN-OH-MAN, NOW THAT"S ONE FI-I-I-I-NE HAT!! Almost as nice as the Open Road I recently acquired of which I hope to have pictures posted next week! Not to detract from your sweet hat there, RBH, I certainly can't fault your taste one whit!

Thank you Dean, Looking forward to seeing you in your hat.
Have you been on the lookout for a Strat yet?

I'm always looking. Now buying or bidding will prbably have to wait to the start of '07. Had to get a new furnace! :( It's that sort of financial reality that puts hat buying in limbo every now and then.

Good looking lid RBH, congrats are in order. As for the moth nibble 600 grit sand paper can take out shallow nibbles. I have done it and it works well.
Thanks Bud, Think I may use a little of what HJ suggested and the sandpaper and take care of the moth nibble. Its the only 'flaw' I have found on this hat.

Very nice. Can we see the liner? They seem to be different on every Marathon i see. I applaud your use of the C-Crown. It seems to work very well on this type of hat ... moreso than on any other i've seen.

I've used the pin trick (well, i used fine dissection forceps but it's the same idea) a couple of times. My greatest success was with my OR, which was pretty badly nibbled. Now they're mostly invisible.

Thanks HJ, the pin trick worked. You cant tell it was ever there.
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Here are a couple of pics Baron, thanks for the heads up, I always love to see all aspects of the hats that are posted here but most times I forget to show things like the liner.
