I just thought that three Aero leather jackets wasn't enough. So I bought myself number four. This time a M422A USN flight jacket. These jackets are so neat that I had to buy a size 46 while I wear a size 42.

It looks great! Interesting about the sizing - are your other jackets civilian types? Did you need anything added to the body and sleeve length?

*sigh* this was almost the first Aero I bought. Still sits on the list... For those who own one, in terms of warmth, where does this sit?

The M422A is an extremely well engineered design, probably superior to the A-2. Although it is relatively light weight, it seems to provide significantly greater warmth than the A-2 due to the mouton collar that really does make a difference. Congratulations. Wouldn't mind seeing a couple of pics with the M422A being worn.

I have a '40s civilian M-422 and it's certainly a more comfortable, warmer jacket than the A-2. Arguably less iconic, but a more practical jacket.

Not warm. I think colder than the A-2 due to the synthetic lining, lighter leather, and cut.
Close fitting, rayon lining and tight leather sucks the heat out of you.

RC32, I'm interested that you went up 2 sizes. I ordered my usual size, same as all my other Aeros, and sent it back because the cut was too baggy around the shoulders and upper arms.
I'd be really interested to see a fit pic.

As long as I can zip the #40 Aero M442a that I bought, everything will be fine. I sometimes pick smaller jackets than my suits #40.

The leather, collar and lining look fantastic.

Great jacket!

Doesn't surprise me you had to go up two sizes. I had a Bill Kelso G&F in a size 42 (which was more like a wartime 40) and even that was very slim. I am a 39" chest.

Wow this is really nice. I haven't even finished ordering my first Aero and I'm already thinking what to get next....

Very nice! I've got my eye on a new M-422a in the near future. Thanks for posting your pics and review.

Is that an Aero as well? Do you mind telling us what your normal jacket size is, and what size you ordered for the M422a?

Yep, it's an Aero. I usually wear size 42. This one is a custom 44 with extra length on the sleeves and the body. In my mind the sleeves are not enough long. They need 1 or 1. 1/2 inches more...
