On my day off I went to Goodwill and I found the most awsome book on Audrey Hepburn it is a hardback book it is called: Audrey Style. It tells all about the time she was a model and actress and also her later years when she was doing work for UNICEF. It has the most wonderful photos (and of the most wonderful clothes!) and has step by step directions on how to do make up like her! The book was only $3.99.

Oh, I love Audrey and I just put this book on hold at my local library! :) I thought I'd check it out first and maybe buy it if it was any good, but I think you've just persuaded me it's worth it. What a great find.

A couple of months before this I was at a different Goodwill and I found The Louise Brooks (book) by Barry Paris for $4.99, it too is a beautiful hardcover book with fabulous photos in it, that was yet another great goodwill find. These two books have inspired me to start a collection of books of Golden Era starlets - all hardback and all from thriftstores, so the hunt is on!

I have the Audrey Style book too. I just love the make-up directions, and all of the pictures are amazing. I actually found mine at the local Barnes and Nobles in a first edition, so I didn't mind spending the money on it. Being that the book was published in 99', I was really surprised to find this copy still in the big bookstores. I like having first editions when I can, you never know when some Audrey fanatic will just have to have a first edition copy of this book, and I can sell it to them for a bundle:p
I just picked up a relatively new book on Bettie Page which is also very interesting, it has personal interviews with her.

I can feel your excitement Brooksie! I have often skipped out of bookstores after finding a great book for under $5! The libraries around here have little bookstores attached. There are all kinds of books starting at .25¢ and I have found numerous bios or history topics on old hollywood for so super cheap. I walk out spending $8 for over ten books.

Anyhow I am delighted for you! You have made me quite interested in seeing this book on Audrey!
