I've been wearing it daily... at least for the last few days. I've been down and I suspect the bowler is a way of showing the world I feel a little black inside.
It's not a John Steed thing. I write things and I see they are garbe when I take a later look.
A while back I would put on my bowler and know I was going to work. Going to a wooden desk next to a hat rack with a computer in front of me and a pile of tasks to complete before the day was through. When done with those tasks I would be complete and take the rest of the day to hash through all those interesting things I saw and learned and write some down and share others with my friends. i moved a little and shaked a bit with my old job and I was proud though I understood i didn't know anything and that is what truly drove me to be better than the competition. I'd see some pick away at those above them tearing at the accomplishments and wonder why they would rather attack than admire. I liked to admire. I learned from those I admired and wished to continue learning. My strongsuit was knowing I knew nothing and that goes for clothing too.
Everything tells a story. It's not like the days when Conan Doyle wrote Sherlock Holmes tales and one could see class structures and eating habits by clothes and kemptness of hands. Positions by hats and duties by shoes. Today it's all a mish mash.
I wear the bowler because today I am not upbeat.
