Possibly the four most desperate characters in all of Film Noir, as well as a great assortment of hats!

Well, there's another DVD/Blu-Ray added to the list. I'm partial to the hat Robert Ryan is wearing in that photo, but I could find an exact duplicate and I'd still look like Ed Begley Sr.. *sigh*

Yeah, I really like seeing the evolution of style in this one. Even the music is moving in new directions.
Another good one if you like seeing hats from this era is "The Lineup" from 1958. Stingy Brims and Porkpies included! And it even has an appearance from Raymond Bailey - AKA Mr. Drysdale from the Beverly Hillbillies - in his iconic trilby.

Okay, make that TWO DVD/Blu-Rays. I hope Amazon won't run out before I order. ;)

Movie stairs have to have their face visible to the camera.

I think wearing a hat that way makes you look like a goof.

Just my opinion, and we each have one.

Mentioned earlier in this thread, I caught "The Boys in the Boat" over the weekend. What a great hat flick! Flat caps, boaters, straws and great felt fedoras.

It was refreshing to see the characters wearing hats in the 1930s that were period appropriate, and not factory creased.

I especially liked the hat worn by the main character's estranged father. A struggling carpenter during the Great Depression. Wonky brim, hole in the pinch. They got it right.

A photo of the real coach and the actor who played him.
