Wow! The vintage Optimo is beautiful, (when it comes to panama's the optimo's are my favs.)

Very nice hats, even the Cuenta-made one is pretty nice. Hat good, price/seller bad..

Thanks for sharin!

That Optimo probably has 200 wpsi, but it is 84 years old, soft and supple.

That ladie's calada is a nice quality, too.

I believe he is just listing his hats for you all to see.

The key here is longevity.

They are her hats and she loves them and wears all of them often. The first hat is 84 years old and has a weave count of 180 to 200 wpsi. I think its neat its lasted so long and been worn by many people and has a history to it. I appreciate her support with my hobby and now she likes wearing hats of all kinds.

That was my point with the Optimo. Yes, I can see the weave even from the wonders of JPEG compression, and the lowered brightness of my screen, (I first saw the original post on my laptop, running from battery. I tend to drop my brightness down a bit, as it does WONDERS on conserving juice!)

But the beautiful part about the Optimo to me is that it is that old, and is still in such immaculate condition, and has maintained that color! I have a nasty tendency to WEAR my hats, (emphasis on "wear.") I have a nice fino Optimo from Robert that I got back in late winter. I've worn it on a couple video production shoots, and it's gotten caught in a couple spring showers, and some general grime has managed to discolor it in places. A trip to Art is in it's future! It's less than a year old, and that 85 year old one looks better! Oh well...

But, noone listens that the montecristis that go for $1200, $2500, and $3500 are terribly marked up, and not the triple keystone, but the quintuple keystone, or septuple keystone, or the decuple...on and on. And we thought Jewelers had it made.
