This afternoon, I'm going to meet with the son of the man who may be the last old-school hat store owner in my area. It seems the father, with whom I've dealt for the last few years, has finally become unable to run the store due to health problems. Of course, my primary purpose in the meeting is buying HATS (he has about 100 in stock- from what I've seen, mostly dogs he'd taken on trade-in, I guess lol , along with a few new (vintage) in the box.) My question: While I'm there, is there any particular equipment that I should be particularly interested in getting?
Thanks!
BTW, yes, I'm so excited, I'm about to jump out of my skin.:eusa_clap

Hey Punkin'

Where in NC are you?
I am just across the mountains in E. TN. & wouldn't mind a bit of a drive... uh, you know... if you needed some help or anything... (I'm a 7 3/8 BTW ;) )...
seriously though' I would KILL for a reasonably priced BRIM TRIMMER!, preferably one that works in 1/8" increments as well as a 2 1/2" and 2 3/4" brim flanges in 7 3/8 size, not to mention the legendary #52 block in a 7 1/4 or 7 3/8... These are just what's on the tip-top of my wish list...

Would one of you fine gentleman define a #52 block? What shape does it render?

It's a standard block for 1930s fedoras. Renders a high, straight crown with no inverse taper.

Let me reiterate that I'm willing to pay generously for an antique #52 block, size 7 1/8. Anyone want to make a few bucks?

Let me know of any sewing machine, brim press( sand baggers) or any of the bigger shop tools, the main thing I need is the singer 107-1 to sew the sweatbands in with.

If you could take a few photos of the items this would be a big plus.

Thanks, for the offer to inform us .

Rick, I posted before that these brim trimmers are still available, any retailer can order you one or you may contact me. What is a reasonable price for you?

...and thanks!
I am just a cheapskate!
I passed one up for $16+ shipping on OFAS about six weeks ago ('cause I hadn't yet researched these items & didn't really know what I was looking at...) and am still punishing myself for it.lol

I am not really sure that it is an item I need, in fact I am sure it would simply encourage me to continue buy & fedoraize vintage western hats...:D
