The army is transitioning to a new blue ArmyServiceUniform. ASU.
And the rise of the trousers will be lower.
Perhaps there will be an opportunity to pick up surplus high waisted army trousers?
Interesting that some of these trousers will be available in 100% wool elastique.

Q8. What type of pants, trousers and slacks can Soldiers wear with the ASU?
A8. Male Soldiers can wear either the old high waist or the new low waist trousers while female Soldiers can wear the new blue ASU slacks.

Q24. What is the wear out date for the high waist blue trousers?
A24. A wear date has not been established for high waist blue trousers

Q25. What types of material are used to make the Army Service Uniform?
A25. Army Service Uniform (ASU) coat and trousers/slacks can be made from the following materials.
55/45 percent polyester/wool serge, 9.5-10.5 ounce weight
55/45 percent polyester/wool tropical weave fabric, 9.0 ounce weight

100 percent polyester, minimum 7.0 ounce weight

Hi, I have a cousin in the USAF, she's a Captain or Major now (I think Major). Anyway, last time I talked to her, she was telling me about her interview for her new job in the Reserves (for a Major's slot). She wore the flight suit to the "formal interview" and a t-shirt and tight jeans to the real interview at the Officer's club later. She said, "I know my Blues fit because I have the same measurements as when I bought them, BUT I haven't have them on for six years." That's active duty time too. I'm not sure why the Army is bothering with dress uniforms.

Pinks and Greens were the best uniforms we've had. The Marine's Olive Drab service dress is a CLOSE second.

I never see Army personnel in anything but ACUs these days anyway.

The reason why ACUs are now worn even by recruiters, is because since we are technically at war, the Army wants all Soldiers to identify with those in combat zones. I don't agree with such logic, and don't like seeing office-bound servicemen/women in fatigues. In addition, many (lazy, IMO) servicemen/women of all branches would rather throw on fatigues every day (the shirt of which doesn't need to be washed/ironed every time it is worn) than wear a dress uniform. At the recent FL Queen Mary event, there were quite a few Soldiers, and a couple of Marines at some type of function, and they were all in their Dress Blue uniforms. I used to wear my dress uniform whenever I could (and my Dress Blues are all wool).
