Men's Evening Scarves?

I purchased two scarves on ebay and just got them in the mail. I thought they were winter scarves but when I recieved them they turned out to be made out of a thin, silk-like material.

I was told they were evening scarves that are usually worn with suits and/or tux's. I thought that evening scarves were always white but these two are patterned.

When and where should I wear these? Could I use them as winter scarves? Thanks.

While it's true that Evening scarves are of a thin silk, so can daytime scarves. Can you post any pictures of the scarves? By the way, scarves have seen a huge comeback in the menswear business.

Vintage scarves

Here are two scarves my late wife often wore. She was very into vintage. (She would have loved the Lounge!) I occasionally wear them, tho they're not as warm as wool or acrylic. The brown one seems older than the paisley. I suspect the brown one is definitely 40's, and they other maybe a little newer. I got a close up of the label on the brown one showing "Scarf by Cisco". The back of the label says "Rayon 2".

You have a couple of very classy dress scarves there. Now you need the tux to go with them!

These ae a common style to go with a suit. You do not need to do eveing wear, just a suit or dressy look. Although worn with casual such as jeans and a sportcoat would be an interesting mix too.

You can wear them as ascots too.

I would suggest wearing them around once, thenone end brough over and under so it looks kind of ascotish under an overcoat., or with a casual look they can go around wrapped around as many times as you can and loosly send one end around the other several times to hold it is place, kind of like you would a bathrobe tie.

Nice around the neck.

Classyguy, I think that you bought two nice looking scarves. I would classify them as non-formalwear scarves.

I agree. I think I got a little carried away there with the tux bit. Those scarves are perfect for any time you want to look nice. Personally, I think the silk/poly blend should be both comfortable and durable.

Those are very nice. I would agree that they can be worn day or evening.

Formal scarves are generally white or cream, with a longish fringe, or perhaps a very fine dot pattern.

classyguy Those appear to be the same weight I wear all the time. The winters here are not too harsh so a light weight scarve fill the bill for me.
Wear daily if you like.

I get hot under the collar (literally, not so often figuratively), so a light scarf is a boon. I just picked up 2 at a closeout place, made by Guy Laroche. They're a thin challis type wool on one side, silk backed. One is bold black and tan foulard over maroon silk. The other, muted blue foulard over blue silk.

For evening wear - the plain white aviator's silk is it for me. What else could you wear with both white tie and tails and an A-2 and be totally right for both?

Inherited one very similar to the 1st one you show Classyguy. It was maternal granfather's and when I was you I wore it till I wore it out in the St. Louis winters. And I'd agree, silk should be worn anytime.:)
