What sort of vintage underwear do the men in the Lounge prefer?
BVDs? The type with the three buttons at top? How about silk underthings like Capone? I believe jockey-style briefs came out in the 1940s.
Do you try to have vintage style under clothes with you suits?

Sincerely,
The Wolf

I agree that the idea of actual vintage underwear is off-putting but how about if it was dead stock?
I prefer A-shirts (tank tops) for undershirts and briefs for down there.
My wife knows I need to do laundry when I started wearing my boxers.lol I find boxer shorts to be inadequate.
Thank you, scotrace, for the link. I never saw that thread before.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Yes, "wife beater" is, unfortunately, the only term found in my lexicon for those things. I use "tank top" in reference to the sort of (under) shirt that has more material at the shoulder than a wife beater, like just a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off at the shoulder seam. Can a person use "A shirt" in reference to these shirts? Are wife beaters A shirts? I'd really like to start using a different term. Maybe tank top is the best option.

For down there, I've been using "boxer briefs" for a number of years now, a cross between "nut huggers" and boxers. J Crew, Calvin Klein, and others make quality ones that last. To me they have a "retro" look while being the most comfortable option.

These I buy only in black or dark blue. I feel this is a fairly important aspect to note. White undergarments, especially for down there, just don't make any sense to me anymore. I believe it must have been a conspiracy of the clothes-whitening-concoction manufacturers to start making undergarments white in the first place. I mean, really, white? That's almost as bad as making fridges with the freezer on top, most accessible while being least used, and most susceptible to the HEAT rising from the machine itself. Similar too in that the silliest idea is the most common (at least in America).

I wish some company would manufacture a low slung V-neck t-shirt with just slighlty shorter sleeves. I like to wear t-shirts with my summer short-sleeve vintage shirts just so the underarms don't get stained, but with the regular V-necks you can still see the t-shirt. Can't stand an exposed t-shirt.

Boxers are always a bit billowy with trousers. They wind up being bunched up in spots and they make you look rather lumpy. I've gone back to black briefs. i totally agree with Adam on this one. White briefs? I've always heard the ladies like them, but I haven't owned a pair since I was about fifteen. Funny, come to think of it, I think that was the last time I...

Regards,

Senator Jack

Too much

At $27 each, I'm not buying. But I'd like to have some of these. I've seen them in 30's issues of Esquire

Better Boxer Briefs?

My Hanes boxer briefs are unsatisfactory. They start out the day comfortably snug, but during the day, they stretch to the point that they are almost as loose as regular boxers by the end of the day.

Can you recommend any brands that stay snug throughout the day?

These are exactly what I'm loking for, but I'm also a bit reluctant to pay $50 for two pairs of shorts! They're billed as "french back boxers" and so far, Google searches haven't unconvered (no pun intended) any other sources.

I know that many of the ladies spend this much on their bras, so I guess its a matter of perspective. I've just gotten too used to buying my drawers in 3-packs for $10! lol

Funny you should mention this, Otterhound...I have the same complaint about Hanes boxer briefs! Unformtunately, other brands I've tried either fit like they came from the boy's department or have diagonal seams running across the back that don't conform to shape of the human male butt.

Personally, I find that light cotton boxers work best under my suits but I prefer boxer briefs for the support when I'm wearing jeans or casual slacks.

That's the rub (ouch) Johnnysan - there MUST be another source but in several attempts via Google I get nothing. VCS is almost always overpriced.

Oddly enough, I've adopted exactly the same policy. Not that I was going in there a lot anyway.
