This came today, not from eBay.

A Mallory - the logo indicates 1940's. The price tag is under the sweat - $11.95. This hat is remarkably perfect. The liner is spotless, the felt perfect, the leather supple.
Brim is 2 & 1/4, crown 6" popped out. The felt is soft, with an underwelt brim. A nice hat - bu at 7 & 5/8, a little big. It fits front and back (SO long oval!), but I can easily fit my finger between the hat and my head at the sides.
It's not dusty, and smells clean!

The last shot is classic. It looks wonderful on you, My Friend.

I like the big bold flying v bow.

Put a little foam behind the sweatband and pray it shrinks down to your head. Often hats do. It's a kind of magic.

That's a beauty. I'm so sad for you that the fit isn't perfect, though. I feel I should offer to take the hat off your hands, to save you further embarrassment. ;-)

In wearing it a bit... it's probably just too darn big. It may go to a new home.

While I hope it does work for you, and gives you happiness for years to come... I also want to point out that I asked first! ;)

A fine looking lid, indeed!:eusa_clap Scott, don't you just hate it when a nice, clean, fantastic, great looking vintage hat doesn't fit.:D

A sharp hat indeed.
I can see from the first two pictures how soft the felt is.
Wear it around a bit before you decide to sell it. As H.J. mentioned, stuff the sweatband with foam. You may get used to the fit.

That is a very nice looking hat, Scotrace. Being vintage, there may not be a whole lot of "shrink" left in it, but do you think that with some moisture and heat you may be able to shrink it a bit?

If you decide that it's not going to work out, I'm sure that your will make someone with a 7 5/8 head very happy!

What a great hat!

Many Scott . . . . You are getting as good as the Dinerman and finding great hats. ;)

This one is a real gem! And, as always, it looks great on you.

Congrats on the awesome hat and bummer about the fit! Give it some time to see if it will shrink because I personally that hat looks great on you! Great pics, btw, thank you!
