make your own cuff links

I made a set from antique WWII tunic buttons.

They are way to large to go through the button hole, so a made a screw hook from the wire off the top of a chinese take-away box.

Attached ot one of the two buttons, this little screw hook catches the other button and the whole linkage is concealed within the sleeve, making for a very smooth, double button cuff link.

Wish I had pics to post of my cleverness. :p

Thank you very much for those links! The first one is especially helpful and I imagine I may try my hand at making some cufflinks. I don't know that we have any jewelry outlets in my town but we do have flea markets. I could probably pick up quite a few sets of earrings which might look nice! :eusa_clap

The first one looks excellent.... I might well invest in a few sets of those and some Araldite!!

I studied The Great Gatsby for my a Level English Literatire at school, and I totally fell in love with that book - read it eight times in those two years. I think it's possibly the reason I'm into the 20s / 30s / Golden Era look now.... anyhow.... there's a gambler character, Meyer Wolfsheim - "the man who fixed the World's Series in 1919" - crops up in one chapter. His cufflinks are made from "the finest specimens of human molars." I always wanted to recreate that.... My wisdom teeth won't be coming out, and I don't know how I could preserve real teeth anyhow even if i did procure them.... Anyohw know, though, where I might be able to acquire some decent falsies?

Edward-

You aren't the first one to say that.

And I think you can buy those links out right.

Failing that, medical/dental supply stores.

please- don't anyone take this idea until I find a good set, because I don't want the price run up for either of us if anyone decides to do it, but I'm planning on making a set out of vintage prosthetic eyes.

Ha, I'd be surprised if I was!

If I can buy then outright, I'd jump on that. Thanks for the link - yeah, Wolfsheim had molars, but canine look pretty cool too!

That would be cool.... I'm sure it's been done before, bearing in mind alex has something along those lines in Clockwork Orange, but I've never heard tell of it outside of CO outfits, so it'd still be well worth going for it, and pretty original.

I saw some small ones in the Rhode Island School of Design gift shop, but they were just little beads.

I want something with real artificial eyes, like this
