So here is a strange one. In 1993 when I was a spotty graduate I spent 3 months in The Socialist Republic of Vietnam - mainly messing around in rain forests doing some fairly pointless research work.

At the end of the trip I and a few pals travelled down from the north to Saigon and spent a memorable few weeks travelling around the south. On my last day I visited the army surplus market and, after a good haggle, came away with the jacket pictured below.
Common sense would tell me its not genuine American surplus left over from the war as I fist hoped. More likely its been cobbled together by a local tailor - any thoughts? The patch is inside the pocket, and the zipper reads Venus

The knits with seams are not "original" if anything is on the jacket (other than the tag). They also appear to be the heavier ribbed (not rib-rack) versions which Alpha has used on some of their recent slimmer/longer models. I remember seeing on e-Bay a modern day civilian jacket with proportions like that jacket from somewhere in asia, so this might be one of those.

thanks guys - its been living in the back of my wardrobe for decades. The orange satin lining is what caught my eye originally I think.

If I were you, I would remove the incorrect tag and just wear and enjoy the jacket! Mind you, it does look a size too big on you, so maybe you should sell it on.

I know! Maybe I've shrunk…..more likely it was the 90's over sized style. I suppose I should sell it…..if anyone is interested PM me - size is L / XL
