I've got a few of these helmets, but I have one which has the quick release low pressure strap and clasp.... I always thought that this strap was experimental and for M1 Helmets only....I've never seen one on a flak helmet. It is definetly original to this lid....Have I got a rare bit of flying gear?

any suggestions??

Cheers,
Seimon

Was that strap actually experimental? I've seen it on a lot of M1s (but I don't know anything about the flak helmet).

Ken Lewis's "Doughboy to GI" book describes them as an experimental strap and used in limited numbers, but as you've said and I agree, I've only seen them on M1 army helmets..:) and (but a slightly different version) on later Vietnam helmets.
