Things like that mean a lot, thanks for sharing. Any idea how much of a backlog he has now? You may have prompt me to get one from him also.

About a year and a half ago, or so, Michael and I started talking about a natural felt hat that would be to my preferred size - 7-3/4, 3" brim, 5" crown as creased. Michael kept me in mind all this time, and found an XL mid-weight beaver body that Winchester has begun offering for big-headed folks like me. He warned me that the felt was pretty stiff (in fact, he said it was a bear to work with), but to me it is "just stiff enough" to hold its given shape and hold that big brim up where it is supposed to be, without drooping at the break. The hand, or surface, is well done, consistent in texture, and soft to the touch. He added a matching brim ribbon and a piece of his "slate" hatband ribbon to come up with a masterpiece. I told Michael I was shooting for the "cowboy fedora" look like Woody Harrelson's hat in The Highwaymen, so Michael put a moderate flange on the hat to get that shape started:

And here it is in shaded natural light. The shape is not quite where I want it yet, but it's getting close:

Still a work in progress, but this is going to be one of my favorite hats! I promised to have only one favorite girl for the rest of my life many years ago, but fortunately I made no such promise about hats, so I can have several favorites! Folks like Michael Gannon, and Rick from Phoenix Hats, make it easy to have more than one favorite.
I encourage anyone who's interested in Michael's work to take the time to discuss your wish list with him. He is a great guy to work with.
Y'all take care,
Regan
What two colors are on the bow keep?
I do love a navy fedora!
It looks like a spectacular hat. Super nice.I wish the pictures better reflected the colors. The hatband is a dark blue, but lighter than navy and the center of the ribbon has a very dark gray. It's a really neat color combination off of the navy and kind of comes across sort of like a raven's colors. Depending on the light angle, you get kind of a pop of it.

New Whiskey fedora from Gannon. My new daily hat especially since the temperatures have finally began to drop in Texas!
Thank you Michael, I'll be back soon!

I apologize for posting this photo in multiple threads...
This is an earlier work of Michael's, pre-website.

I have no idea how I missed this before now. This looks like a thread I need to spend some time going through!
