M-65 sleeve length alteration Q

My first post here, so apologize if this isn’t the right place or have broken any rules. Recently picked up a Buzz Rickson m-65, and I am very impressed with the quality, but the sleeves are long for me, even cinched up with the Velcro. I am wondering if it would be possible to have a tailor shorten the sleeves about 2-3 inches without losing the placket, Velcro, liner functionality etc. I think if I have to choose between sleeve length and destroying the jacket I’ll suck it up and keep it intact. Let me know what you think! Thanks.

How long is the placket now? 4" to 5"? I would not shorten anymore than half of what is there now without losing the placket detail.

Looks like a major surgery. Maybe shortening at the shoulder would give a better result? A major surgery either way.
