I had been considering getting a cow-hair panel grizzly from Lost Worlds for quite a while... Reason I did not have one until now, is that I always have too many models I want to get made. Initially I had in mind of getting a black-on-black version. Clean, understated, with a nice contrast in terms of the material the panels are made of. Then I thought that a playful navy on black would be the ticket.

That train of thought was interrupted when I saw this one come up for sale. I hesitated about getting the russet version as I normally do not like mixing black with brown, But this is one of those exceptions that works for me, even better when you handle it and wear it! Is it due to the black being made of cow hair? Not sure, but I will certainly enjoy it thanks to @oneterrifichog for selling it to me! I can not stress how much of a pleasure it was to deal with him :)

This one is an older jacket, size 44, but it feels more like a slightly wider size 42. I could not have zipped it up a year ago. So how does it fit?

These jeans are now too loose, they are lower than they should be, guess I need to get a new pair soon.

I saw this on the ‘Bay and had to restrain myself. I’ve got serious grizzly fever. Nice score!

You want a cow hair version or the more classic one?

Was this OTH’s jacket? Awesome. I need me one of these.

You certainly do! No, it was owned by someone else, it seems to be 3 to 4 years old. The leather is very similar to my suburban, stiffer than the current batch.

Very nice red devil! I too see myself needing one of these some day and I would definitely go for the cow hair panel like yours.

I debate whether it should be hair on or full grizzly. My Schott hair on cow is awesome so I may want something more furry. But your jacket is awesome.

Personally I like your Thedi cowhair grizzly better. It looks more playfull with those divergent lines plus it has more color dept (imo).

Do you still have it?

Edit : you know I love all your jackets right? This is nothing more than my personal opinion.

Fortunately for me I don’t have to buy a griz, I can just take my shirt off and violà! LOL.
Fit looks perfect and I like the darker hair on hide versions best. A bit more subtle. As much as I admire these jackets, this would be a divorce level piece if I brought one home. Mint Vintage had some cheap versions on eBay awhile back and I was tempted to put a toe in the deep end. I’m sure I could not fully commit.

I enjoy hearing all opinions, so don't worry :)

I don't tend to sell or give away jacket as most of them have taken quite a bit of thought or consideration. And this Thedi would be one of the last ones I would sell - hope I never have to. It comes back to the fact that I consider most of my jackets to be grails, there is no single one grail.

I would agree with you, the Thedi is more playful, or maybe a bit wilder. It has the divergent lines, a thick goat hide that changes colours depending on the light which has been treated lovingly by Theo, and a unique wool lining I found in Tokyo. It also is a warmer jacket, I consider it more wintery.

This LW on the other hand, is more subdued, less warm, but very clean. Surprisingly so, from the lines, to the stitching, it is almost sugical. I will post up some close ups tomorrow and would be curious to hear if you feel the same. In my mind, even though they are both "hairy" jackets - maybe we should start using this as an official term for jackets featuring hair panels lol - I feel they are very different beasts. I would wear one or the other depending on my mood, but in generally different settings.

Speaking of which, I have quite a few ideas to explore in these kind of jackets, I am close to ordering another one from Theo in a completely different model, and am thinking of a custom with LW in the same vein but also in a completely different direction. I have a few more ideas, but they are a bit too far off for either LW or Thedi, need to find someone who would make these :)

Edit: a bunch of typos and clarified what I meant

cool jacket RD, I think you don't need a smaller one, the style of the belt and buckle also add a touch of culture and when the belt is worn and digs a little into the jacket it looks much better than if the jacket lay flat on top because the jacket is already tight.

@red devil Congrats on your new addition! That's a wild jacket and fit is perfect. I agree with Marc that the Thedi style is nicer but this one does also look good IMO...now you still need a real grizzly :D I guess you definitely have the most diversified jacket collection here!

True indeed, I need to get the real grizzly and that would be fun in red leather with black mouton :)

I remember one was posted in a thread here, it looked really good! Let me look for it

I did think of combining deer with deer hair panel, only thing I am not sure if the hair would stay on like cow which is sturdy.

I found a red grizzly that was posted here, not sure if I remembered wrongly and it is this one or of another one was posted with black mouton

That's a very cool jacket. I used to have a hair on hide grizzly and now, I surprisingly would prefer a mouton one. With that said, yours looks great.

The cow hair panel version is a good stepping stone indeed :)

Do you already have an idea of which one you would get?
